Scripture lesson: Psalm 131 The limits of being human

Time to reflect: It can drive us wild trying to understand what humans are incapable of understand. We'll never know the mind of God, except to the degree God reveals God's nature to us.

Moving Throughout the day: What are some of the imponderables in your life? What have you gained by worrying about them? Try saying this Psalm in relationship to these issues.

Scripture:

My heart is not proud, O LORD,
       my eyes are not haughty;
       I do not concern myself with great matters
       or things too wonderful for me.

  But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
       like a weaned child with its mother,
       like a weaned child is my soul within me.

  O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
       both now and forevermore.

PrayerBits for Monday

Monday

Scripture lesson: Proverbs 3:5-6

Time to reflect:do not rely on your own insight” “Do not be wise in your own eyes” Challenging words! But surely we must admit that God is going to be wiser, so it makes sense to rely on God rather than ourselves.

Moving Through The Day: Try to think of a time when Scripture or a “still small voice” went against what you believed to be the right opinion. Which did you follow?

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
       and lean not on your own understanding;

  in all your ways acknowledge him,
       and he will make your paths straight.
